The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its toughening prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. This produces a characteristic "spider web" cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass.

Double Glazing for Thermal Insulation
Glass used in double glazing window for thermal insulation is known as Low E, or low-emission glass. It has a transparent metallic coating that works in two ways to economize heating energy. A skyscraper is a tall, continuously habitable building having multiple floors. HINGED SINGLE GLASS DOORS
A hinged door is the most traditional option, with a swiveling hinge on one side of the door frame enabling the other side of the door to swing open from the wall. A single hinged door can open inwards, outwards or both and can be for internal or external use.

FRENCH GLASS DOORS
French doors are basically a pair of singled hinged doors that open away from each other. Traditionally, they have multiple timber-framed glass panels and swing inwards, but today, anything goes. Used for both interior and exterior doors, they provide an elegant transition between rooms and spaces.

BI-FOLD GLASS DOORS
Bi-fold doors are made up of a series of individual folding door panels that, like the single hinged doors, can be framed or frame-less. They are generally made up of two or more hinged panels that fold or concertina along a sill track, and can be pushed to one or both sides of the structural opening.

PIVOT GLASS DOORS
Pivot doors have hinges mounted at the top and bottom of the door, often at a center or off-center point. This means that when the door is open, it is both inside and outside. Pivot doors can be singular or multiple, as as in the example pictured here.

SLIDING GLASS DOORS
Sliding glass doors open sideways rather than inwards or outwards, gliding alongside another glass panel or the framework of the house. Sliding doors allow for expansive glass walls to maximize views, offering a transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

STACKING GLASS DOORS
Stacking doors look like sliding doors, but contain more moving panels. They are often comprised of two or more panels that slide behind one fixed panel or structural element. Each panel collects and interlocks with the next panel, causing it to slide.

Clear Float Glass
Float glass is a sheet of glass made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten metal, typically tin, although lead and various low melting point alloys were used in the past. This method gives the sheet uniform thickness and very flat surfaces.

Tinted Glass
Tinted glass is produced by adding metal oxides to float glass during manufacture. Tinted glass absorbs and re-radiates solar energy reducing heat and in can provide cost efficient climate control. Tinted glass also reduces sun glare and is aesthetically appealing.

Reflective Glass
Reflective Glass achieves offers greater solar control than standard tinted float glass and can be used to create a specific visual appearance in a building.

Toughened Glass
Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass (a.k.a. annealed glass) creates. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.

In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer, typically of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), between its two or more layers of glass. The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. This produces a characteristic "spider web" cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass. In the case of the EVA, the thermoset EVA, offers a complete bounding (cross-linking) with the material whether it is glass, polycarbonate, PET, or other types products.

LowE Glass
Low Emissivity glass has a thin metallic coating on the glass that reflects thermal radiation or inhibits its emission reducing heat transfer through the glass. Low E glass reflects the radiation rather than absorbing it, improving insulation. LowE glass is available in a range of colours including, Clear, Neutral, Blue, Green and Grey

Double Glazing
Insulating glass (IG), more commonly known as double glazing (or double-pane, and increasingly triple glazing/pane), consists of two or three glass window panes separated by a vacuum or gas filled space to reduce heat transfer across a part of the building envelope.

a. be connected with a current residential utility service account to FortisBC Energy Inc., FortisBC Inc. and/or BC Hydro. Electrically heated homes served by local municipal utilities within the service territories of BC Hydro or FortisBC (electricity) are also eligible.

b.be one of the following types of residential buildings:
i. single family detached dwelling;
ii. mobile home on a permanent foundation; or
iii. side-by-side duplex, side-by-side row home or townhouse, provided that each unit has its own natural gas and/or
electricity meter. Utility accounts in the name of a strata corporation are not eligible. Multi-residential buildings such as high-rises and apartment buildings are not eligible for the Program. Garages, workshops, and out buildings are not eligible for the Program;

c. have 12 months of consecutive utility billing history for the period immediately prior to the installation of the Upgrade(s); and

d. prior to the installation of insulation, draftproofing, or Bonus Offer eligible Upgrade(s), be heated primarily by electricity, natural gas, or propane, supplied by either BC Hydro or FortisBC. Premises heated primarily by oil, wood or other solid fuels are not eligible, except for (I) Participants who switch to gas or electric heating prior to installing eligible Upgrade(s) by participating in either (a) FortisBC’s Switch ‘n’ Shrink program for conversion of oil or propane to natural gas, or (b) the Province of British Columbia’s Oil to Heat Pump incentive program for oil to electric heat pump conversions, or (II) Participants who are eligible for rebates funded by Collaborating Parties for homes heated by oil or other fuels.

- Upgrades installed in a newly constructed building or a new addition to an existing building are not eligible.

- Premises where the registered property owner is a separate person from the electric and/or gas utility account holder, such as rental properties, are eligible.

- Participants may apply to the Program to receive rebates for any Upgrades for which they have not previously received rebates. However, a maximum of one Bonus Offer is available per Participant regardless of the number of Upgrades installed.

- Rebates for any particular Upgrade may only be claimed once, either through this Program or through other programs funded by BC Hydro and/or FortisBC.

- All equipment and products installed as part of an Upgrade must be new and not previously installed in another home or building. The Participant is responsible for safe decommissioning and disposal/recycling of old equipment and ensuring it is not resold or reused.

- Participants on the BC Hydro electric Plus (EPlus) rate for service may no longer be eligible for the EPlus rate if there is an Upgrade or change in the space heating or water heating equipment attached to their EPlus meter
