Double Glazing for Thermal Insulation
Glass used in double glazing window for thermal insulation is known as Low E, or low-emission glass. It has a transparent metallic coating that works in two ways to economize heating energy. The dual action coating reflects heat back into the room, whilst allowing heat and light from the sun to pass through.

Laminated Glass
Laminated glass is comprised of one or more inter-layers, sandwiched between two or more sheets of float glass. The inter-layers are composed of a PVB (polyvinyl butyal) laminate, or cast resin.

Here is what happened yesterday. A 24 hour emergency call was received at 4am in Vancouver, BC. A thief climbed the roof of the adjacent building, then got on to the building of a high end merchandise store, and then smashed the skylight glass with a brick. That’s how the thief entered the store. As the result the thief stole merchandise valued at $10,000 before VPD officers showed up. In the picture you can see a temporary cover that is placed there until the unbreakable specialty glass is received and installed.

Clear Float Glass
Float glass is a sheet of glass made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten metal, typically tin, although lead and various low melting point alloys were used in the past. This method gives the sheet uniform thickness and very flat surfaces.

Tinted Glass
Tinted glass is produced by adding metal oxides to float glass during manufacture. Tinted glass absorbs and re-radiates solar energy reducing heat and in can provide cost efficient climate control. Tinted glass also reduces sun glare and is aesthetically appealing.

Reflective Glass
Reflective Glass achieves offers greater solar control than standard tinted float glass and can be used to create a specific visual appearance in a building.

Toughened Glass
Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass (a.k.a. annealed glass) creates. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.

Laminated Glass
Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. In the event of breaking, it is held in place by an interlayer, typically of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), between its two or more layers of glass. The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its high strength prevents the glass from breaking up into large sharp pieces. This produces a characteristic "spider web" cracking pattern when the impact is not enough to completely pierce the glass. In the case of the EVA, the thermoset EVA, offers a complete bounding (cross-linking) with the material whether it is glass, polycarbonate, PET, or other types products.

LowE Glass
Low Emissivity glass has a thin metallic coating on the glass that reflects thermal radiation or inhibits its emission reducing heat transfer through the glass. Low E glass reflects the radiation rather than absorbing it, improving insulation. LowE glass is available in a range of colours including, Clear, Neutral, Blue, Green and Grey

Double Glazing
Insulating glass (IG), more commonly known as double glazing (or double-pane, and increasingly triple glazing/pane), consists of two or three glass window panes separated by a vacuum or gas filled space to reduce heat transfer across a part of the building envelope.
